Let It Die

The Digitalization of Television and the
Continuing Descent of American Christianity
The deadline for transitioning your TV from analog to digital has now been officially moved from February 17 to June 12. I have some advice – let it die. If you haven't noticed, most Americans walk around with glazed over eyes. A massive contributor to this is the sex-saturated television industry.
Americans have corrupted themselves. They have desensitized their ability to discern between good and evil. Most are so compromised by what they feed on through their television viewing, they couldn't recognize evil for what it is if it came up and bit them on the end of the nose.
Think of this. Why would the government give forty dollar coupons to all Americans to keep them intravenously hooked up to that thing? If the government wants so desperately to keep us connected to tv, that right there makes it suspect to me! A corrupt government has to keep a comatose corrupt people hooked up to what keeps them indifferent to the events of their nation. ‘Bread and circus' worked good for the ruling elite in Rome, and our rulers have done the same to the American people today.
Do you know that it is a scientific fact that your brain flatlines when you sit in front of the TV? There is no brainwave activity. Your brain then begins to desire that feel. It likes not to think, and have things involuntarily dumped in there. Hence, people's routine, habitual, never-ending, television viewing.
Why is American Christianity in such a pathetic state? Why do churches put such emphasis on entertaining those who gather? Because we have an American Christian people which are drunk on entertainment. This is where Christians invest their money.
Where are the young men of the next generation who can logically, intelligently, reasonably, and passionately defend the faith? They have wasted their youth and brains on television.
If American Christians refuse to unhook themselves from the television feeding tube, the state of American Christianity will just continue its descent from true Christianity. The digital transfer has provided an opportunity to help us rid ourselves of what is wasting our time and corrupting us. This is an opportunity to "lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and run with endurance the race that is set before us." (Heb. 12:1) Let us seize it.
Listen. You can get your news (the reason stated by most Christians as to why they still have a TV) from the internet in one-tenth the time you can from watching the news on TV, and without all the dumb commercials, puff pieces, and social engineering. The propaganda of the TV tries to demoralize and convince us that the whole nation is as immoral and socialistic as they portray it to be.
So let your television die! Look. You can still watch videos and DVD's. But do yourself a favor when you do – turn on the subtitles so that you can read while you watch. This will exercise the brain, and help reduce the shrinkage.
Oh, and here's some fresh thoughts – pick up a book, converse with your spouse, and develop a relationship with your children.
