“We do not come as aggressors. Our war is not a war of conquest; we are fighting in the defense of our homes, our families, and posterity. We have petitioned, and our petitions have been scorned; we have entreated, and our entreaties have been disregarded; we have begged, and they have mocked… We beg no longer; we entreat no more; we petition no more. We defy them!” –Williams Jennings Bryan
Those who are aware of history will undoubtedly know of the startling similarities of the policies of a National Socialist Germany, just prior to the time of world war two, and the current policies of the United States. Those who are so unfortunate as to have obtained their education in one of the many woeful schools of our national public educational system today would be well served to pick up a history book, if one can be found that hasn’t been revised to reflect the politically correct garbage presently being force fed to our students, and acquaint themselves with the historical political events of the Third Reich, which eventually led to the destruction of Germany, and which bear a remarkable resemblance to the political agenda being played out by our government today.
Dictatorships don’t just happen; they are a product of several elemental constituents. The first necessary constituent in the making of a totalitarian dictatorship is for a megalomaniacal power seeking political activist to be ushered onto the political scene. Often times these mortals will, at first blush, appear to be no more than patriotic individuals with a sincere desire to lead their country to a state of ideal perfection. These are usually charismatic and often have, but not always, well developed communication skills. Some are savants and others are moronically inclined, but all possess that extreme egotistical mindset that makes them believe that they, and they alone, are destined to be the saviors of their nation, and ultimately of the world.
One that I know of started as a politician whose only claim to fame was that he possessed a family political clout that enabled him to steal an election. I believe that you can see where I am headed with this. And some came to power through brilliant political connivance, such as was employed by Adolph Hitler. And at least one of these individuals possesses a pathological belief that he is an agent of God, and that God works through him. And now I know that you know exactly where I am going with this article.
A second constituent of the making of a dictatorship is the early capturing, by an incipient dictator, of a high approval and zealous affirmation of his leadership by the people. Historically this has been almost always the case unless it was a military coup that brought a dictator to power. It is this ill-conceived approbation that allows an emerging dictator to rally exponents and to consolidate his over reaching political hold on a country by securing legislated powers, which enable him to override the normal checks and balances on his prerogatives.
That we, in the Unites States, are on the cusp of a transformation to an absolute socialistic totalitarian system cannot be denied. We have a president who has successfully seized the means to force his will upon the people, and he has been aided and abetted in this cause by the congress. He is presently fighting an unconstitutional war, also with the acquiescence of the congress, and he has effectively captured the power to seriously abridge many of the amendments to the Constitution. He has the authority, again granted by congress, to prevail upon the personal privacy of the people, and to spy upon them at will. And he unilaterally negotiates treaties and agreements with foreign nations, for which he extorts acceptance by the congress after the fact. As was the case with Herr Hitler after he seized control, President George W. Bush is no longer just a tin pot small potatoes politico. By every measure he is a dictator who needs to be stopped from his unconstitutional excesses, and stopped quickly.
One would think that President Bush had at some time in his life studied the tactics of the German dictator since he has employed very effectively these very same maneuvers in his pursuit of complete control of the domestic scene and in his application of an aggressive belligerence on the international front. Citing internal security the German dictator moved early on to suspend the rights and liberties of the people. He suspended Sections 114, 115, 117, 118, 123, 124, and 153 of the Constitution of the German Reich until further notice, i.e. temporarily. Thus, all of the rights on personal liberty including the right of free expression of opinion, the right of assembly and the right of association were nullified, while at the same time the power to violate the privacy of postal, telegraphic, and telephonic communications, and the power to evade legal requirements for the acquisition of warrants for house-searches, orders for confiscation and restrictions on property, were seized by the government.
The decree, which allowed this government incursion upon the people, was supposed to be temporary, but in fact it was never rescinded even unto the end of the war. U.S. citizens would do well to remember this when they are told that similar suspensions of their constitutional rights are temporary and are being instituted for the security of the nation.
On the international front old Adolph had no equal in his quest for dominance over other nations. By asserting a right to self-protection from fictitious aggressors and by claiming, with feigned outrage, various manufactured affronts to German sovereignty the bellicose dictator lied and bullied his way through a number of encroachments upon hapless nations that were unfortunate enough to have captured his attention. The only innovation that he never tried was an assertion of the right to democratize other nations by war; he most likely would have been very envious of the inventiveness of George Bush in that regard. By maintaining that the German nation was only re-claiming land that had been wrested from it by neighboring countries, and by demanding the right to protect the interests of citizens of other nations who were of German ethnicity the fuehrer maneuvered his way though one conflict after another in his predatory pursuit of seizing the land and natural resources of other nations. Buoyed by his conquests and elated over his successes he soon over reached in his nefarious pursuits and landed the nation, and the people thereof, in a monumental world war. Let’s look at some similarities here in regard to a like belligerence by President George W. Bush.
Claiming that Iraq was developing weapons of mass destruction the president maneuvered a malleable congress into an approval for a military attack. His congressionally approved attack in March of 2003 was merely an escalation, or extension, of a war already in progress. For months prior to the official start of the war the United States and the United Kingdom had been carrying out air raids upon Iraq. Thousands of sorties were flown against various military targets in that country. In reality Saddam’s military had been reduced to impotency prior to the official institution of hostilities in March of 2003. The Bush administration had been hoping that these air attacks would provoke Saddam into irrational retaliatory measures, such as missile launches similar to those carried out in the previous Kuwaiti conflict.
When this hoped for reaction by Saddam didn’t materialize, the president was forced to resort to subterfuge to gain approval for an attack upon Iraq. The president, aided by the media, rode a phantom WMD fairy tale to a congressional approval for his war of aggression. It was gunboat diplomacy at its best. President Bush and associates would have us believe that the fact the Iraq is a strategically placed middle-eastern country with great water resources and a coastline to the Persian Gulf, and that it possesses 112 billion barrels of proven oil is of no consequence and had no bearing at all on the decision to launch an all-out military assault on the country. That we still have gullible people who believe the weapons of mass destruction fabrication absolutely begs credulity.
No dictator can seize power and maintain control over a country without the support of subordinate, or lesser, despots. Hitler had Hermann Goering, Joseph Goebbels, Heinrich Himmler and others, and George Bush has Dick Cheney, Alberto Gonzales, et al. Even so the sustaining of power by Adolph Hitler would not have been possible without a corrupt judiciary and an enforcement apparatus with which to enforce the dictatorial decrees of the regime upon the people. In order for totalitarianism to flourish society must cease to be based upon law. It is necessary that the law be what subjective activist judges say that it is, and not be predicated upon immutable principles. There must be no independency of law against the wishes of the ruling regime. In June of 1936 for the first time in German history a unified police system was established for the whole of the nation. Whereas the police had previously been organized separately by state and by local government, all were now amalgamated into a single system under the control of the Third Reich.
The foregoing facts should cause the hair to rise on the back of the necks of those reading this article. Evidence abounds that the very same forces and maneuvers described heretofore are being brought into play by the present administration. The judiciary has largely departed from the rule of law and the decisions of the judges thereof are subjective and predicated not upon immutable principles, but upon personal whims and caprices. Likewise we are witnessing an increasing militarizing of the police agencies in the country. The new Homeland Security agency provides a nucleus for the same type of unified police system that was instituted in Germany under Hitler.
Our personal choices are being exterminated by a tyrannical bureaucracy, which forces upon us thousands of freedom robbing decrees. In short we are well along the road to total domination by a force very nearly like that, which confronted the German people during the time of Adolph Hitler. And if we don’t do something about it and do it quickly we are very apt to wake up one day to find that we have been dragged into an historic conflict of an infinitely greater magnitude than that, which confronted the German people during world war two.
