The Abolition of Truth
By Rev. Paul Michael Raymond The Covenant News ~ February 28, 2009
While each and every realm of civilization is crucial to man's well being, it is the area of Religion, Politics and Law, which hold the key to mankind's freedom. Political philosophy is always linked directly to the theological world and life view of the politicians and lawmakers in charge. At this very moment, the world, and especially our nation, is witnessing the breakdown of morality and freedom. This breakdown of civilization, however, is not being understood properly as to the reason behind it, since it is viewed in bits and pieces, thus, "missing the forest for the trees".
What we can see clearly before us is the breakdown of the family, the increased sexual promiscuity among young people and adults alike, abortion, euthanasia, pornography, the antichristian influence in government education, gang warfare, the advancing of anti-American groups established abroad and at home, the application of radical Marxist philosophies being forced upon the citizenry, the open hostility to both Christianity and the American Constitution of these united States – and the list goes on and on. What the American people have failed to understand, and especially those in the Christian church, is that all of these issues are merely the result of one underlying catalyst. That catalyst is a major paradigm shift in world and life views.
These sad and dangerous issues of our day are the direct result of an overall change in how people think and view the world around them. According to Francis Schaeffer and countless theologians, politicians, economists and professors, this shift has been moving away from a world and life view that was at one time Christian based, toward something completely alien to it. If history has taught us anything, it has borne out this one certainty; the further away a nation strays from Biblical principles of government, Law and Public policy, the more delinquent and degenerate the nation becomes. History has also shown that the further a nation strays from the God of Scripture, the more gods it adds to itself. Whenever a nation rejects the True God in the face of Jesus Christ, the Sovereign King, pluralism and polytheism results.
America is quickly moving down the road to perdition and it is time to do something about it, starting with Ecclesiastic accountability. While governmental accountability is also essential, it is the church and her ministers that must hold civil leaders accountable to the Law of God. This "reformation" of the church must be waged swiftly, without any hesitation, through the publication and application of Biblical ideas and solution-oriented cultural analysis. Christianity must be re-examined so that it may be explained Biblically. Since the majority of "so-called" professing Christians and their clergymen seem to be lost as to what a ‘Biblical Christian' is, and how a Biblical Christian should behave according to the Dominion Mandate, a re-indoctrination to the Real Biblical faith must be once again proclaimed with clarity and boldness.
Every city town and county must have the conspicuous voice of true Biblical Christianity. A grass roots effort must be waged in every locality, stirring the populace to think about things they may or may not be familiar or comfortable with. Challenges, publicly stated in writing, must be waged concerning every realm of the society. A galvanizing effort must be made so as to return Biblical sobriety to the drunkards of Christendom who blindly proclaim "Peace, Peace, when there is no peace." During the crucial years between the Stamp Act Crisis of 1765 and the signing of the Declaration of Independence, rigorous and creative political thinking produced hundreds of pamphlets, newspapers and articles concerning the burning issues of the day. The saints must again bring this practice into play. Wrong ideas must be defeated with Biblical ideas. Our warfare is ideological.
America finds itself in the predicament she is in as a result of the church's complacency. Historically, whenever there has been a crisis, the saints have heeded the call. This has never been the problem. The problem in which we continually find ourselves is that during peacetime, the church has allowed the nation and her morals to languish. If we are to win the day, once and for all, we ought never to allow this nation to languish under "Egyptian Complacency" but rather be ever vigilant and resolute for the Glory of the Crown Rights of Christ.
At the same time as the clergy and the church is called into accountability, the government also must be given no rest. Yet, the question may be asked, "To what, or to whom is the government to be accountable?" While this question seems rhetorical, perhaps a more fundamental question is, "What is the role of government and what should the political philosophy of government look like if its people are to be free and unmolested?" If a government is too powerful and encroaching, the people will eventually become slaves. If the government is too weak and unstructured, the society will become anarchistic. Both extremes are dangerous. Ironically, however, both extremes ultimately produce some form of slavery.
Worldviews are based upon one of the two following belief systems. The first view is based upon the idea or notion that the final reality of life is based upon some impersonal force, or an indeterminate wind of chance. The second is based upon the Sovereign and supernatural intending of God's providence, directing men and nations according to His decree and revelation of His Word. These two diametrically opposing views both have consequences that will inevitably bring dramatic changes to a nation when adopted. Each of these brings different results.
What we have been experiencing in the decline of western civilization's morality and systematic building of a Marxist totalitarian system of government, is the result of a humanistic, God-hating worldview philosophy, evident and prospering in both the church and the nation at large. Ever since Christianity was compartmentalized and shut up into a small isolated portion of life, (the individual, family and church), the enemies of American freedom and Biblical Christianity have flourished, running roughshod over an unsuspecting people. Since this truncation of God's Law/Word, society has been "up for grabs". With the removal of Christianity's strong moral influence and watchdog measures over politics, Law and public policy, secular humanists, Marxists, socialists, new-agers, atheists, the ACLU, evolutionists, aristocrats, autocrats, neutralists, despots and despot "wanna-be's" have been jockeying for the brass ring without restriction. While slavery is never something that we, the American people, desire it may be that very thing that we deserve, since we have been asleep for so very long and allowed both Republicans and Democrats to establish a Leviathan system of Government, where the law is what the men in Washington say it is, and not what God says it is.
In a sad contemplation of liberty, Alexis de Tocqueville observed, "I am convinced that, if ever a tyranny succeeds in getting a foothold in America, it will have even more difficulties in overcoming the habits formed by freedom than in conquering the love of freedom itself." I, too, am afraid that the concept of love and the reality of Biblical liberty has been eclipsed by the lust of ease and materialism, so often brought about by that very freedom.
Contrary to which philosophy men may hold dear, when it comes to government, law and public policy, there is an absolute right and wrong. This means there is an absolute Truth when it comes to "How" localities, States, and Nations are to govern. As free American men and women under God, we can no longer disengage our minds from what is happening around us, hoping that it will go away all by itself. We must engage ourselves in this battle of worldviews and restore that precious Christian world and life view. While it may not have been lost altogether, it certainly has not been applied to the real world as it should.
