Regulating Third-Party Election Ads in West Virginia
The Associated PressCHARLESTON, W.Va. -- West Virginia's House of Delegates wants the Senate to consider regulating third-party election ads as well as political activity by in-state corporations. But largely party-line votes reflected GOP concerns that the two bills passed Monday are unconstitutional. Foes cited federal court orders targeting two previous rounds of such legislation. One of Monday's measures would require in-state corporations to obtain shareholder approval and then detail spending when devoting funds to politics. It reached the Senate 61-34.
