Politicians in the two parties have built their power base on the basis of controlling local media. Today, local media are dying: newspapers and local TV stations. Broadcasting is dying; narrowcasting is replacing it. This will force a re-structuring of American politics. Resistance to centralized government is spreading as never before by means of the Web. It just isn’t associated with a region any longer.
