Beware: The Tax Man Cometh

According to a 11/19/04 Associated Press article written by reporter Mary Dalrymple, the IRS increased its audits of "wealthy" taxpayers this year, and collected a record $43 BILLION dollars in unpaid taxes. They are so proud of their achievement, they are asking Congress to grant them an additional $500 million dollars to "expand efforts to track down tax evaders". That $43 billion dollars collected is 4 times greater than the IRS' annual budget of $10.2 billion dollars, which represents an excellent return on investment.
