Nine dead in truck bombing, Philippine troops quit Iraq
BAGHDAD -- A truck bomb blast near a Baghdad police station killed nine people, while the last Philippine soldier left Iraq to save a hostage theatened with beheading and whose fate remains a mystery. Adding to the mayhem, a British troop died and two were wounded when their helicopter crashed in the south of the country, and a senior defence ministry official was gunned down near his home in the latest high-profile murder.
