Dear Friend of Exodus Mandate,
Every year about this time, concerned Christian parents all across America sit down for one of the most important talks ever. It’s time to make the annual “back to school” decision.
Parents, like one Ukrainian immigrant couple I will call Vladimir and Elaina, have a tough decision to make. School enrollment is just around the corner across the United States. Time is short and the pressure to decide is very intense. THIS IS D-DAY… DECISION DAY 2008.
Will these loving parents send their children back into government schools to be brainwashed into atheism, humanism, materialism and unbiblical lifestyles? Or instead, will this be the year they find Christian alternatives? Will they find a way to give their precious children a quality, affordable, Christian education in time for fall?
Sacramento, California, is home to some 150,000 Slavic, Russian and Ukrainian immigrants like Vladimir and Elaina. Of this number 25,000 to 30,000 attend 80 Baptist or Pentecostal churches. This year on August 10, our annual Christian Education Sunday will especially focus on them—calling on these devout immigrant parents and pastors to commit to Christian schooling for their children.
Vladimir and Elaina are themselves children of parents who were sent to Siberia under Communism in the old USSR. They fled here to escape bias of anti-Christian schools. School choices can be bewildering for any parents, especially those who are new to the United States. Will there be anyone there to sit down with couples like Vladimir and Elaina to answers their questions and help them make the right decision?
Local pastors and leaders from the Slavic community invited us to come to Sacramento from June 26 to June 29 to make the case for biblical parenting. We gave them the truth and shared all the resources at our disposal. They are now looking to us—asking for our assistance as they consider the Christian schooling alternatives. Thank God we can not only direct them to the best consultants but provide moral support and a little seed money for their new Christian schools.
We currently have a number of choices to offer besides home schooling and traditional campus Christian schools. There are now several “THIRD WAY” programs such as church-based “one-room school houses” or innovative educational co-operatives. All of these supportive solutions can include web-based and Internet curriculum, online consultants and even teachers!
Your on-line gift of $500 would help us to set up a one-room school house in one of their churches where pastors are already interested—but every gift counts, be it $100 or $1000.
These Slavic pastors and churches have a unique opportunity to inspire and lead American churches as well. Imagine the impact on the American church if several thousand of their children moved into K-12 Christian education or home school co-ops! They are ready to decide and need our fervent prayers and financial support. I need to hear from you immediately with the largest on-line gift you can afford to give. Every day counts.
The Ukrainian believers are a devout Christian community with large and close-knit families. They have churches led by godly and faithful pastors like Rev. Nikolay, who leads one of several Slavic congregations working with our Exodus Mandate and California Exodus consultants to set up Christian schools this year.
Pastor Nikolay told his congregation, “Pharaoh and the devil can’t have our children. They will all come to Jesus and be taught in Christian or home schools, and the whole family will go to Heaven together.” We support this spirit. Yet making such a decision would create new financial burdens for these families. This is a great step of faith, and a strategic gift from us while they are getting started would make a tremendous difference. Will you advance their vision with a generous on-line gift now?
The good news … many Slavic Christians and pastors in California are prayerfully considering withdrawing their children from the public schools. They did not flee the horrors of Communism only to subject their children to immorality and anti-family laws in California’s government schools.
On August 10 we will celebrate Christian Education Sunday in California, especially in Sacramento, to focus on those churches that are setting up new K-12 Christian schools or home schools. This is the time that Slavic families and pastors can declare that they’re taking their children out of the state-run public schools and dedicating them to Christian education. This will be a momentous event in the life of the Slavic Christian community—and an inspiration to pastors and parents everywhere.
In my messages to these dear pastors and churches, I told them of the first American settlers, the Pilgrims, who came from a land where they too had been persecuted. I told them of the sacrifices they made to found a new nation based on religious liberty and to give their children Christian education. Of course, I asked them to make that same kind of sacrifice by choosing to give their children a Christian education. By doing this, they would set an example for American Christians.
Will you join with them in their sacrifice with your prayers and support? Will you let them know that their faith and obedience is challenging other Christians to stand with them in solidarity? Please, let us hear from you with your on-line gift today. In our summer campaigns, expenses are greatest when giving is down, so your gift is all the more necessary. I deeply appreciate your support and generosity. God bless you.
Yours for Christian children,
E. Ray Moore, Jr.
