Campaign Looks to Republican Party for Personhood Amendment Resolution

For Immediate Release:

Caucus Goers Report Positive Results to Colorado for Equal Rights

DENVER, Colorado -- Colorado for Equal Rights, sponsor of the "Human Life" ballot initiative, has announced they are hoping for a statewide resolution from the Colorado Republican Party to honor Tuesday's caucus resolutions passed in support of personhood in many precincts.

"Colorado for Equal Rights began receiving reports from caucus meetings Tuesday evening," stated Colorado for Equal Rights spokesperson, Kristi Burton. "Resolutions were passed in support of Colorado's personhood amendment initiative from the front range, to Durango and Grand Junction."

"In this lackluster election cycle for conservatives," said Steve Curtis, former chairman of the Colorado Republican Party, "we will need this personhood amendment on the ballot to bring pro-lifers to the polls in November."

A campaign email update indicated to volunteers reporting from across the state that precincts passed the personhood resolution by overwhelming majorities, often unanimously. Examples include La Plata County precincts 15, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, and 26 and Jefferson County precinct 29 where, "The personhood resolution passed easily with 22 Yes votes, 1 No vote, and 4 abstentions,” reported Connie Sharin, caucus participant.

"Colorado for Equal Rights is hopeful that the Colorado Republican Party will honor the personhood resolution passed by many precincts by passing a statewide resolution in support of the human life amendment,” continued Burton. "The personhood amendment has gained incredible momentum in the past few months. As this energy continues to build, we look forward to a victory in November."

Colorado For Equal Rights was established to restore the rights of personhood to all humans regardless of age. CER is currently gathering the 76,000 signatures needed to place the personhood amendment on the ballot in November.
