Police: Owner of Modeling Agency Rapes Teen Models in Abortion Clinic

BRIDGEPORT -- The owner of a local modeling agency was charged Thursday with sexually assaulting three Norwalk teenagers he recruited to be models.

When one, a 14-year-old girl, expressed concern that she was pregnant, police said agency owner Michael Britt took her into the adjacent Summit Women's Center, where he allegedly had intercourse with her under the guise of giving her an abortion.

Britt, 42, was taken into custody shortly before noon at his agency, Model World Enterprises, by officers from the Police Department's Youth Bureau. They also seized computers from his office.

He is charged with first-degree sexual assault, second-degree sexual assault, fourth-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor.

He was held in lieu of $250,000 bond pending arraignment today in Superior Court.

Britt, of Beechmont Avenue, has operated the modeling business above the abortion clinic at 3787 Main St. for at least several months. He previously has worked with the city's homeless and at one time operated a hot dog cart on State Street.

There was no answer at the agency's door late Thursday afternoon.

Tanya Little, administrator for Summit Women's Center, said Britt is a tenant in the center's building, but "he has no connection with our patients." Asked if it were possible for him to gain access to the Summit clinic, she responded: "I have no knowledge of that."

According to police, the three teens — ages 18, 17 and 14 — complained on April 14 they had been sexually assaulted by Britt, who recruited them with the promise of modeling jobs.

The 14-year-old said she met Britt at his agency, where he told her he could make her a model, according to police. When the teen expressed concern that she might be pregnant, police said Britt told her he was part-owner of the abortion clinic and could do an exam to find out if she was indeed pregnant.

Britt took the girl downstairs to the empty clinic, where he removed her clothing and performed what he claimed was a gynecological examination, police said. Britt later told the girl he was able to determine she was pregnant, but added that he could perform an abortion so she could resume her modeling career, police said.

On another occasion, Britt allegedly brought the teen to the clinic, where police said he had intercourse with her, claiming he was applying a special abortion cream. The girl later went to her own doctor, who told her she was still pregnant, police said.

The 18-year-old told police that Britt said he could get her modeling jobs, but she first had to develop a certain physical technique as she walked. He then allegedly had her remove her clothes to have intercourse with her in order to foster this modeling skill.

"This is what it takes to be a model; if you want to be a model this is what you are going to have to do," Britt told the teen, according to police.
