Rummaging In The Attic

I found this old newspaper clipping while cleaning out my Grandfather's attic.
Fuehrer Appoints National Judge
German News Press -- 20 July 1934
Yesterday in Berlin Judge Schlegelberger was appointed to the German high court. Schlegelberger is a judge whose position tracks nicely with our National Socialist Weltanschauung. For example, in 1932 Schlegelberger was quoted as saying
"The Decision that Jews are not human beings is the settled law of the land. There is nothing in my personal views that would prevent me from fully and faithfully applying that precedent."
The Christian community in the Deutschland is said to be ecstatic over this pick. They are especially excited about Schlegelberger's judicial philosophy. That philosophy was summarized by his admission that,
"I don't necessarily think that it's the best approach to have an all-encompassing philosophy."
When asked about his views of this choice Reichskanzler Minister for Religion and Culture Rev. Schunigg was quoted as saying...
As a National Socialist and Christian people we are ecstatic that this man was chosen for this position thus avoiding somebody with Communist type credentials. Surely, even the most casual observer can see that Judge Schlegelberger is clearly the better candidate then we would have had were the Communists in control of the Bundestag.
Many have noted that the Schlegelberger family might even have the gratuitous effect of having a moderating influence over how many Jews are disposed of annually, as the Judges wife, Jane Schlegelberger has served as President of the Zyklon-B Women for Jewish life.
