Whenever someone is quoted in the press using the word homophobe the application of this word is misused and confusing. Understanding the correct usage of this word will help identify people who are suffering from this affliction and as a result place them on the road to recovery.
Jim Rudd, Director of the Christian Street Preachers Alliance, said, "A Biblical overview on the topic of homosexuality reveals the proper methods institutions and civil governments are to apply in treating this activity. After reviewing these methods, one is left with a clear understanding of what the definition of homophobia really is."
Homophobe: A person who is frightened to speak out against the criminal activity of homosexuality. Due to the inseparable association between criminal characteristics and homosexuality, people who suffer from homophobia fear some sort of retaliation from these malefactors. Consequently, the homophobe says and does nothing while homosexuals publicly promote and maintain their criminal activities.
"There is however a clear Biblical distinction between the person and the criminal activity of homosexuality," Rudd said. "Christians reach out to societies by preaching the commandments and calling people and civil-government officials to repentance of their sins through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. On the other hand, there is a Biblical mandate upon judges and civil officials to protect innocent people in societies by administering justice on persons committing the crime of homosexuality. These are sacred responsibilities," Rudd added. "Nowhere does the Bible even suggest that Christians are to tolerate civil officials who fall short of their sacred duty to protect innocent people. In fact, the New Testament sets forth examples of eternal fire for those people who tolerate such criminal activity and injustice from their civil officials," Rudd said.
- So fearful is the homophobe he will let society be brought to ruin before crying out for justice.
- All the cities around Sodom and Gomorrha, where many homophobes lived, suffered the vengeance of eternal fire the Book of Jude explains.
"The good news is, for the homophobe to be healed of this affliction, there is a simple remedy," Rudd explained. Gradually the homophobe should speak out against the criminal activity of homosexuals and the negligent civil officials who are responsible for allowing the injustice. "Publicly demand the civil officials to administer justice by arresting and prosecuting the homosexuals is a good way for them to get started," he said. "As the homophobe speaks out against this crime he will soon realize his fearful anxieties have been replaced with a healthy dose of righteous indignation."
"We are instructed not to fear those who can kill the body, but cannot kill the soul: but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. People who approve of homosexuality bring God's righteous judgment of death upon themselves, and silent omission is nothing more than approval," Rudd said.
"Since this tolerance for injustice seems to reside mostly in the Church today, it is quite evident there are far too many Christians stricken with the fear of man more than God. From a purely Biblical perspective, homo -phobia is actually having more of a fear of man as opposed to fearing God first in one's life," Rudd concluded.
