Pregnant Woman Files Suit Against Police Alleging Racial Profiling, Assault

MILWAUKEE -- A Milwaukee native filed a lawsuit this week against the Independence, Mo., police department, alleging racial profiling, assault and negligence, stemming from an incident where she was forced to lay facedown alongside the freeway. The former elementary school principal, 33-year-old Yvette Hayes, was five months pregnant when police pulled her over, believing her car was the same one wanted in connection with a string of stolen vehicles.
