North Carolina Looking to Boost the Car Tax

Lawmaker wants State to more than double its car tax.
A senior North Carolina legislator is looking to more than double the tax imposed on the purchase of new and used cars. Senator Daniel G. Clodfelter (D-Charlotte), co-chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, introduced his plan to raise the vehicle sales tax from 3 percent to 6.75 percent in March. The legislation would also eliminate the practice of subtracting the value of a used, trade-in automobile when calculating the total sales price of a new car. Full story...
