North Carolina Looking to Boost the Car Tax
Lawmaker wants State to more than double its car tax.A senior North Carolina legislator is looking to more than double the tax imposed on the purchase of new and used cars. Senator Daniel G. Clodfelter (D-Charlotte), co-chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, introduced his plan to raise the vehicle sales tax from 3 percent to 6.75 percent in March. The legislation would also eliminate the practice of subtracting the value of a used, trade-in automobile when calculating the total sales price of a new car. Full story...
