Judge Moore Plans to File Appeal this Week
Moore Plans to File Appeal this WeekJudge Roy Moore may appeal his removal as Chief Justice by Thursday. Moore's attorneys say the appeal is almost ready. Moore wants to make a few changes before filing it. Three weeks ago, the Court of the Judiciary voted unanimously to remove Moore as Alabama's Chief Justice. The court says Moore violated the Canons of Judicial Ethics when he refused a judge's order to move a monument of the Ten Commandments.

Lawsuit Seeks to Return Moore to Office Soon
Though former Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore may have laid low over the Thanksgiving holidays, his supporters still have their momentum intact. Christian talk show host Kelly McGinley and lawyer Jim Zeigler, both of Mobile, intend to battle for Moore wielding a small spear aimed at the "unconstitutionality" of his removal.
Ten Commandments: Some Local Officials
More Reluctant to Enter Judicial Fray
Area delegates to the Georgia Legislature may wade into the Ten Commandments fray in January, but local government officials may be reluctant to follow. State Rep. Jack White, R-Blue Ridge, is planning to introduce or co-sponsor legislation encouraging city and county governments to display the Ten Commandments in public buildings. Federal courts recently ordered that a monument of the commandments be removed from the Alabama Supreme Court building, and chief justice Roy More, who placed the monument, was suspended, then removed from the bench for refusing to comply with the order. Several local governments in Georgia are currently engaged in legal battles over displays of the commandments. The American Civil Liberties Union and other political groups have sued local governments around the nation to force removal of such displays.
Nativity Scene Goes Up Despite Ten Commandments brouhaha
The recent controversy surrounding the City of Casper's Ten Commandments monument did not in any way, shape or form affect the city in its decision to put up a nativity scene on public property this holiday season, the city manager said last week. The nativity scene, which is part of a larger holiday display in Pioneer Park, located across Center Street from the County Courthouse, has been exhibited by the city for many, many years, City Manager Tom Forslund said.
O, Christians, Awake!
How much longer are Christians going to make excuses for President Bush's un-Christian behavior? It really has me baffled as to why they do it. His policies have been virtually the same as Bill Clinton's, yet Bush is held up while Clinton is vilified. The most common reason I hear for supporting Bush is that he says he is a Christian. Well, let's take a look at his actions, not his words. God alone can judge his heart.
Court to Weigh Religious Scholarships

Electronic Voting Firm Drops Legal Case
SAN JOSE, Calif. -- In a major victory for free speech enthusiasts on the Internet, Diebold Inc. has agreed not to sue voting rights advocates who publish leaked documents about the alleged security breaches of electronic voting. A Diebold spokesman promised in a conference call Monday with U.S. District Judge Jeremy Fogel and attorneys from the Electronic Frontier Foundation that it would not sue dozens of students, computer scientists and ISP operators who received cease-and-desist letters from August to October.
Should Young Ladies Go To College?
This is a very controversial subject. As a mother of both sons and daughters, I have often pondered the futures of my children, and my husband and I have discussed how best to prepare them to fulfill their God-given roles. I have dear friends who have different opinions than I on this topic, and I do not shun them (or vice versa) because they dare to disagree with me. My opinions, however, are very strongly held, and I would be dissembling if I said I didn’t think they were correct. That is why I hold them!
