Conditioned Response
Dear Daddy:
What have you got to say to America about your "Second Amendment Gun
Rights" now, on the anniversary of the Columbine massacre?
No Guns In My House
Dear No:
Right after the Columbine school shootings, there were a number of
officers talking out in front of our church, after a service.(These were
church officers, mind you, not police).
There was much to say about the Columbine and other murderous rampages,
such as in public restaurants, (McDonald's in California, Luby's Cafeteria in
Texas) the commuter train in New York for example. Where people just stood
or sat there while one (or at most two, as in Columbine) armed person(s) went
about the business of executing unarmed folks.
The consensus was that the only answer to the question of "Why?"... was...
conditioned response.
The majority of Americans are now conditioned to just sit there and let
themselves and their fellow travelers, diners or students simply be
slaughtered. They don't think it is their responsibility to protect even
themselves, much less be concerned about anybody else. It is the
"authorities' " responsibility for everyone's personal safety, and if this
fails, then they, along with anybody else connected, can be sued by the next
of kin, and maybe more laws can be passed as well. The media will certainly
try to help in this area.
Notice I said the "majority" of Americans are now conditioned to act this
way. Several million gun owners aren't, and it is notable that there are
large blocks of "minority" Americans that aren't -- our officer gathering
noted that there has not been even one incident like the above in any of the
"inner city" areas!
Why? You know why, don't you, gentle reader? The residents there are not conditioned to just sit there and take it -- maybe they don't feel guilty all the time about all their prosperity -- haven't been manipulated in the same way as the rest of the culture. And they are used to having to be on guard, and sometimes fighting to protect themselves.
The greatest concealed weapon of all is the will to not let yourself and
others be trampled on. You don't need government approval and licensing for
it either.
But, "What Would Jesus Do?" you might ask -- In Luke 22:36 He told his
Disciples to buy a sword if they didn't have one. In John 15:13 He told us
that no greater love had any man than he lay down his life for his friends.
(Show your love... fight for your friends).
Maybe if you have the sword with you, or a karate chop technique
available, or see the edge of a cafeteria tray as an Adam's Apple crusher,
or use a table or chair to crunch somebody's head -- you can lay down some bad
guy's life -- for you and your friends.
I bet Jesus will cheer you on!
Gimme that old time religion.
