A Jealous Nanny-State
Dear Readers:
Daddy's home from Merry Olde England.
Going into a "tube" (subway) station in London, Daddy noticed a newspaper
headline that warned that there was a recent upsurge in people trying to
collect money for "unregistered charities."
As he worked his way through the maze of tunnels to get to his train, the
old song by ex-Beatle, Paul McCartney "Band on the Run" coursed through his
mind -- "if we ever get out of here, gonna give it all away, to a registered
charity..."
Then, when he came up out of his destination station, in some other part
of London, what does he see just outside but several teens offering flowers
for a donation to their cause , (reminding him of the "Moonies" here some
years ago). But, they were getting few takers -- as the loudspeakers at the
station were blaring warnings about the possibility commuters would be in
contact with persons "soliciting for unregistered charities."
Wow! Protecting the locals from non-State approved organizations. Big
Brother watching over his flock. A Government that really "cares."
A jealous nanny-state, perhaps?
And, after returning home, while reflecting on the trip, what did Daddy
see, through his "Covenant News", but a story that had a lot to say about
what we have done to the once powerful Church of Jesus Christ here in
America. Incorporating. Registering. Putting it under the laws and oversight
of the heathen state.
And the pulpits slowly shut down, as far as offering any significant
criticism of the evil that comes out of men's minds and establishes itself in
the laws and institutions of the land.
There is certainly a peaceful relationship here, between the registered
Church and the "State."
And Daddy is betting that the Ultimate Authority is not pleased one bit.
