A Wicked Decision Dooms The Coming Election

I have avoided writing about the coming election. Let me tell you why.

America’s Christian leaders are still having a problem seeing beyond the end of their noses.

At a July 1st Denver meeting, called by Liberty University law school dean Mathew Staver, 90 Evangelical Christian leaders heard Phyllis Schlafly say "The alternative is so bad we must support John McCain".

Concurring with this failed policy along with Staver and Schlafly were Gary Glenn, head of the Michigan American Family Association; Donald Hodel of Focus on the Family; Alveda King, niece of Dr. Martin Luther King; wealthy publisher Steven Strang who reported on the meeting in Charisma Magazine; Sarah Huckabee, Mike Huckabee’s daughter; Rick Scarborough, president of Vision American, and most, if not all, of the other prominent pastors and laypersons in the group.

Staver represents the followers of the late Jerry Falwell, Hodel represents James Dobson and his minions, Steven Strang is a Charismatic guru, Gary Glenn antes for Donald Wildmon’s American Family Association, Schlafly, a Catholic, has wide spread conservative influence, Alveda King will sway Blacks, and over 80 additional attendees, some with mega-churches, will sway many more.

Christians have not been well served by backing tainted candidates in a two party system. United States is on the verge of bankruptcy, our moral standards are in the gutter, homosexuality and abortion have never been more popular, freedom of speech is being threatened and while these deluded individuals compare Iran to Nazi Germany our own nation is becoming more fascist by the hour.

They fight abortion, support Israel, and have their egos stroked by gaining access to the President. Most of them support our unconstitutional, immoral war that has resulted in death and injury to thousands of young American men and women and hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqi citizens. Their man claims Muslims and Christians worship the same god, consorts with homosexuals and hires them by the thousands, lends his support to open borders, the new world order, and to his brother, Jeb Bush, who along with the Neo-Cons helped author PNAC, a written platform for world domination. Failing to perceive reality, these unholy Christian pragmatists continue to support a policy that has produced consistent failure.

The contrived war has not only resulted in the loss of freedom in United States but has actually exacerbated the problems with terrorism by creating additional animosity. The unprovoked attack on Iraq and the Bush Administration’s duplicitous torture of prisoners has sullied our Christian image as well as our international reputation. We no longer lead the world by example; instead we are controlling it through waning raw power.

The threat the warmongers claim Islam poses is in large measure a result of their own actions. With the exception of Israel, which is heavily armed with conventional and nuclear weapons, there is no nation in the Middle East with the military capacity to threaten the United States. Opinions to the contrary are a result of mendacious propaganda and fuzzy thinking.

There are two major reasons for the dilemma we now face. One is the inordinate power American Jewry exerts on our government. John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt are the latest scholars to undergo excoriation for writing this truth. The second reason, related to the first, is the malignant heresy of Dispensationalism that has consumed American Christianity and it leaders.

Christian support for the secular state of Israel is a sin. Through the Grace provided by Jesus, our Savior, we are to support God and His Commandments. Even if the illegitimate nation of Israel actually worshiped the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and obeyed the Commandments He gave to His servant Moses, supporting it would be sinful. Jesus provides the only access to God. He and He alone opens the door to the Father! There will be no peace in Jerusalem or elsewhere until King Jesus is recognized and every knee bows before Him.

Our Triune God is not pragmatic. Scripture clearly teaches that we must obey His Commands leaving the results in His hands. It is a grievous, sinful error to support evil in order to gain a particular objective. In a Democratic system, God expects Christians to support the most righteous candidate and if Christians had been doing that over the past several decades our nation would not have fallen into secular debauchery and tyranny. The lack of Christian support for Ron Paul was a tragic error that is now being compounded by support for John McCain.

Arabs do not hate America for its freedom; they hate America because it supports Israel and they hate Israel because it occupies land bequeathed illegitimately by the English who had no right to conduct such a transaction. See the Balfour Agreement here.

The same humanistic bug that causes Evangelicals (Charismatics and Pentacostals included) to support the mega-church also causes them to support the lesser of two evils. To secular humanists success is the crown of righteous endeavor. In God’s Kingdom success is a derivative of obedience and a product of His dominion. Human success elevates the creature, God’s success elevates the Creator. Success should create gratitude to God not to the evil manipulations of His creatures. In mega-churches care is always taken to avoid controversy and confrontation; evil omissions are common in order to promote large memberships, a perceived good. When Christian leaders support the lesser of two evils they ignore evil focusing instead on the perceived good.

Why they have not recognized the terrible results of this policy is hard to understand. Certainly Dispensationalism is a large part of the problem. This Nineteenth Century heresy was planted in the United States where an already weakened Protestant theology granted it fertile soil. It has resulted in a nation of Christians who not only fail to obey the God they worship but stubbornly support the very thing He hates. The Covenant with Israel was breached and replaced with a New Covenant in which the Lamb of God is the Keystone.

Christianity and God's Law should provide the rudder for the nation. When the Law is forsaken the salt losses its savor and the nation quickly sinks into debauchery and despotism. Arrogant, unteachable leadership and pietistic, selfish Christians fail to hear God’s voice or to discern His actions. In the coming election Christians will again vote against themselves.

If we must lose our freedom and live in a police state what are we fighting for anyway?
