When Major Columns Crumble The Structure Collapses
By Al Cronkrite The Covenant News ~ January 07, 2008
In Iowa, 6 out of 10 voters for Huckabee described themselves as Evangelical Christians. If you consider yourself a Christian it would be prudent to read all the available information about the candidates and learn what God seeks in His leaders.
Establishment candidates are those who use politically correct rhetoric and studiously refrain from speaking controversial truth; have visited and spoken at the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) and receive favorable press coverage. Voters have elected that ilk again and again and world government has steadily progressed while the leverage of the people on their own public servants has steadily regressed. They have lied to us, committed treason, robbed us of our freedoms, engaged us in needless wars, squandered our money, ignored our moral values, allowed the disintegration of our families, censored our sources of information, and all the while manipulated us with tons of propaganda. Huckabee is a member of that establishment. He is willing to go along to get along. He is a pragmatic who will use the Hegelian Dialectic to compromise away absolutes.
Christians are easily manipulated and naïve because the Gospel of the Savior they claim to worship has collapsed into an effete morass.
The following quotation was sent to me recently by James Farley.
Whosoever truly understandeth the division of the places of the Law and of the Gospel, gathered out of the holy scriptures, cannot by any man’s doctrine be seduced from the truth, or read the scriptures but to edify both himself and others: whereas he that is ignorant of the same cannot, though he were a great doctor of divinity, and could rehearse every text of the bible without book, but both be deceived, and deceive others; as the experience hereof (the more pity) hath taught, nay, seduced the whole world…. Therefore, I say, take to thee the glass of God’s law; look therein, and thou shalt see thy just damnation, and God’s wrath for sin, which, if thou dreadest, will drive thee not only to an amendment, but also to a sorrow and hatred of thy wickedness, and even to the brim of despair, out of which nothing can bring thee but the glad tidings of Christ, that is, the gospel: for as God’s word doth bind thee, so can nothing but God’s word unbind thee; and until thou comest to this point, thou knowest nothing of Christ. John Bradford, The Places of The Law & Of The Gospel, 1548
Borrowing from John Bradford and adding my own feeble vernacular let me describe another perennial Christian maxim. Whosoever truly understandeth the gravity of the doctrine of Divine selection gathered out of the holy scriptures, cannot by any man’s doctrine be seduced from the truth, or read the scripture both to edify himself and others: whereas he that is ignorant of the same cannot, though he were a great doctor of divinity, and could rehearse every text of the bible without book, but both be deceived, and deceive others; as the experience hereof (the more pity) hath taught, nay, seduced the whole world…. Therefore, I say, take to thee the glass of Divine Selection; look therein, and thou shalt see thine own insignificance and God’s exquisite sovereignty. Thou shalt see that He and He alone is responsible for each individual believer and that He and He alone created the Body of Christ, the divine aggregate who seek His Will and His Way. We are a peculiar people, a special people chosen by God to be subject to King Jesus, to worship, revere, and obey Him. Until thou comest to this point, thou knowest nothing of Christ.
These two doctrines are not the only keystones of the Christian Gospel but they are two of the most important. When the doctrines of Divine selection and obedience to the Law crumble, the structure of Christianity crashes to the ground!
Oh dear reader, do you understand? Do you know in your heart that you worship a sovereign God, that you cannot overrule His selection, that you did not choose to become a Christian; that when you went forward at the Billy Graham crusade or bowed your head and said the sinners prayer alone or lead by another, it was God who selected you to come to Christ and removed from your heart the sin that kept you away? It was He Who wooed you and drew you breaking down the barriers little by little till the hardness was replaced by a softness and the door to the One True God and His Paraclete Son swung open.
Have you read through the Bible, not getting bogged down in detail but gaining an insight into the character of God and His way of working with those who are His? Have you learned that He does the choosing? Have you learned how He selected Abram, how He selected Jacob and the future nation of Israel, how He selected the prophets, how He selected Mary, and His disciples, and Paul on the Road to Damascus? You will find that God does the selecting and that we are chosen! The Apostle Peter wrote, “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.”
Once you understand that you were selected by God, you must learn what He expects from those He chooses. Again, you need to read through the Bible. The Bible has one major, overarching theme, that theme is OBEDIENCE. We are to obey His commandments. His commandments are contained in His Law. Jesus came to fulfill the Law. He died on the Cross for our sins and sent His Spirit, a Spirit of obedience. It is that Spirit of obedience that removes our desire for evil and replaces it with a desire for righteousness. However, even with a Divine desire for righteousness we occupy a fallen frame that tends us to do the very thing we hate. When it is the evil we hate that we do, the blood of Christ removes the stain and allows us again to come before the Throne of the Father clean and white as snow. Evil is disobedience to God’s Laws. Without God’s Laws it is impossible to determine proper behavior.
Now, gentle reader, let me return to the presidential election and the responsibility incumbent on a Christian voter. King Jesus rewards obedient subjects. When Christians consider casting their vote it is their duty to cast it for the most righteous candidate. Recently a writer listed the qualifications of Congressman Ron Paul. Read them here.
When you are finished compare them to any and all of the candidates in the 2008 presidential race.
The wisdom killing emotionalism that accompanies Christian support for men like President George W. Bush and former Governor Mike Huckabee comes from a belief that announcing a born again experience automatically validates a candidate. This emotional dream world nullifies one of God’s most important methods of evaluation - by their fruits ye shall know them. Being a Christian is not enough. What is needed is a mature, stable, and dependable Christian whose actions are obedient to God’s Commandments. Mature Christians do not compromise with evil. We need men like Ron Paul who throughout his career in Congress has abided by the mandates of the Constitution. It is that sort of obedience that God seeks and blesses.
Most Republican voters (Christians should flee the Democratic Party since it defies God’s Laws by supporting homosexuality and abortion.) cast their ballots with scant wisdom. The “Christian” label alone is often enough to garner their vote. They are busy with their homes and their sixty hour a week jobs. Their news comes from fifteen minutes of propagandized television. They have not read Selwyn Dukes excellent analysis of Mike Huckabee’s pathetic record in public office (Read it here) and are unaware of the dangers involved in electing this immature Christian man to govern our nation.
Mike Huckabee has encouraged illegal immigration by supporting an open door policy. He supported renting space, partially built with taxpayer funding, to the Mexican government for a dollar a year. He also supported giving illegal aliens drivers licenses, government benefits, in-state tuition rates, and voting rights without proof of citizenship.
Callow policies like this result from failure to attain maturity as a Christian. We are to be kind to strangers but they are never to be allowed to breach our laws. During the theonomous era of ancient Israel, God reminded His people to be kind to strangers in remembrance of their own sojourn in Egypt. However, being kind to strangers never meant that strangers could breach Israel’s laws or that they would become permanent residents. God’s chosen people were a special people set apart by belonging to a jealous God. Strangers were not regularly accepted as permanent residents and were always expected to abide by the laws of the land.
Yes, gentle reader, I would recommend that you support Congressman Ron Paul for the Republican nomination for President of the United States and if he wins, elect him to the Presidency. He is by far the best candidate.
If you are a supporter of the War in Iraq, reconsider the nature of the God you worship and the King you serve. Remember that He did not allow King David to build the Temple because King David’s hands were sullied with the blood of war. Remember that King Jesus is a Man of peace; a man that would never begin a pre-emptive war against a nation that did not threaten nor pose an imminent potential threat. Beloved, come to understand that the God we worship hates war and that we are to become warriors only as a last resort. However, if a legitimate last resort should come about we should win the war by becoming the most fearless and ferocious of warriors. Until that time arrives we must pursue peace.
I would urge every Christian to find an appropriate daily reading schedule and read straight through the Bible seeking to understand the nature of our God and of His Son, Jesus. When you have finished, reconsider the two Columns outlined at the beginning of this article in light of what you have read.
Become a mature Christian who not only knows how to behave and can counsel others on how they should behave, but also what God seeks for His creation and who is responsible for bringing it about.
