The Narrow Road
Peace & Freedom Through Obedience

God created human beings with a built in desire for heroes. Deep in each heart is a craving to revere greater gifts, greater power and greater righteousness.

On Russian Premier Joseph Stalin's orders tens of thousands of innocent Russian citizens were removed from their homes and transported to the cruel and often lethal slave labor camps in Siberia. Though personally confronted with his brutality, they were unable to comprehend his guilt and while en route wrote letters requesting that he intercede on their behalf.

Many Americans are determined to believe in the righteous actions of our government. Facts are of no use; they will discredit them, or ignore them. For Republicans, President George W. Bush is their hero and for Democrats President William J. Clinton was theirs.

The course of Ship America is determined by the same emotional attachment that governs sports fans. Republicans are like New York Yankee fans and Democrats are like Boston Red Sox fans. Party politics is 90% emotion and 10% principle. It is a perversion of the built in desire for worship; they substitute an idol for the One True God.

Recently, in support of America's imperialistic war in Iraq, I received by email a speech attributed to US Navy Captain Ouimette, Executive Officer at U. S. Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Florida. It contained a litany of terrorist actions against American interests and contended that the War on Terror actually began in 1979. Captain Ouimette sited the '79 invasion of the American Embassy in Iran and the l983 bombing of U. S. Marine Headquarters in Beirut with similar attacks against American Embassies in Kuwait and Beirut. He continued the list with attacks on American soldiers in Spain and Germany, bombs on airplanes, and the murder of a Jewish American on the Italian ship, Achille Lauro.

Founder Thomas Jefferson said, "Peace, commerce and honest friendship with all nations-entangling alliances with none". Founder John Adams warned against making any alliance "which should entangle us in any future wars in Europe."

Captain Ouimette ignored American history and failed to tell his listeners why, against the recommendations of our founding fathers, our troops were stationed on these foreign soils, nor did he mention the reasons why Americans might be targeted for terrorist attacks. Instead he completely disregarded the Creator and His Laws in favor of the country right or wrong.

A neighborhood bully steals a weaker child's wagon and uses it on a daily basis. Physically, the victim cannot overpower the bully so there is no way he can retrieve his wagon. However, as the theft continues he finds ways to harass the bully without being detected. When the bully determines he is being harassed for his theft he begins beating up and stealing from all of the weaker children in the neighborhood.

From the bully's perspective it makes some sense to annihilate hundreds of thousands of Arabs in an effort to subdue one weak Arab nation. American citizens, 70% of whom claim to be Christians, have forgotten their obligation to do justice and walk humbly with their God. Instead they have developed the perspective of bullies and are hell bent on subduing their weaker antagonist with no consideration for righteousness.

Peace can be established in at least two different ways. The overt form is by coercion - peace at the point of a gun. The covert form is by change in the human heart and obedience to God's Laws. Following untold tons of uranium laced bombs, America has sent 150 thousand troops into a world of 200 million Arabs in an effort to establish a coercive peace at the point of a gun.

During the Twentieth Century an estimated 200 million citizens were killed by secular governments - mostly in China and Russia. America has embarked on this same path and the only peace that can result from this unhallowed quest is despotic.

Having desecrated our Nation with multiculturalism and robbed its wealth and vitality through illegal and treasonous foreign alliances, our legislators have codified police state laws that wait only on their word to enslave the nation. Peace at the point of a gun is not only an export but an import as well.

America has troops stationed in over a hundred different nations. Every nation that we defeated during WWII is still occupied by American troops. Our history records the actions of a Bully. We killed off and cloistered the Indians who possessed American land for centuries. We have talked softly but we have often used the big stick.

Decades ago, America officially ceased to be a Christian nation. Since then we have been in the hands of a godless cabal bent in dominating the world. Christians who lend their support to an entity that has forsaken its Christian roots in favor of wickedness are culpable before God for their disobedience.

The disastrous destruction of 9/11 and the nationally televised human degradation that has resulted from Hurricane Katrina are startling results of rebellion. When our hope is centered in idols and false gods tragedies soon overtake us.

It is time for American citizens and their leaders to return to The Great God of All Creation by Whose stripes we are healed and by Whose Laws we can enjoy peace. Cindy Sheehan is right about our President and about the War in Iraq but she has been joined by secularists, Socialists and Communists who seek to plunge the nation into other forms of totalitarianism.

Consensus is hard to find. Our citizens are divided over the War in Iraq, they are divided over abortion rights and over political parties. Christians compose over a hundred denominations and individual Christians often have a unique theology. On top of all that we have massive influxes of foreign immigrants who seek to maintain their diverse cultural identities.

Agreement is a gift from God and can only come as a result of a return to His Laws. If by some miracle God chooses to save America, it must come through mature Christian leadership solidly grounded and with the same love of The Law that King David exhibited in ancient Israel.

Because He created the strong desire for worship in the human heart, God holds leaders accountable. It is the nature of sheep to go astray. They need leaders who will return them to God's fold.
