Monday, Oct. 31 (Reformation Day)

Commentary by David Alan Black,
6:28 AM The Reformation that began 488 years ago today is not over. It is time to amend our ways. Some things are not to be accepted but challenged and changed. The problem with our generation is that we fail to get to the root of our troubles. We spread talcum powder on cancer and use a feather duster to get rid of deeply-ingrained unbiblical traditions. It is time to forsake all such temporary palliatives. No longer can we remain silent about a church that has become cluttered with superficial “believers” who refuse to sell all and follow Jesus.

They Call Him "Scalito"

Alito Conformation Process:
His Appeals Court Record is Not Uniformly Conservative.
While Samuel A. Alito has been dubbed "Scalito" by some lawyers for a supposed affinity to conservative Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia and his Italian-American heritage, most observers believe that greatly oversimplifies his record. Alito is considered far less provocative a figure than Scalia both in personality and judicial temperament. In addition, his appeals court record is not uniformly conservative on the sorts of issues that arise in Supreme Court confirmation battles.

Greener-Pasture Pastors

Commentary by David Alan Black,
Some pastors say they are changing jobs because God is leading them to another church. I do not doubt that this may be true in certain cases. However, I’m afraid the “grass-is-greener” mentality is at work as well. Some men I’ve known aren’t so much pastoring as “pasturing” – moving from pasture to pasture whenever the grass appears greener.

How To Select Christian Leaders

Commentary by Chuck Baldwin,
When looking for integrity within the hearts of our political leaders, look no further than to one's fidelity to the U.S. Constitution. If an elected politician has any true Christianity within him, he will do his best to uphold his oath to the U.S. Constitution. After all, he gave his word to the American people and to Almighty God! By the same token, any elected officeholder who does not uphold his oath to the Constitution should be regarded as revealing serious dereliction to both his political and Christian responsibility.

by Laurence M. Vance,
Christian, is your preacher a minister of war or a minister of peace? It is a horrible blight on Christianity that many of the preachers in America today who claim to be conservative Christians waste their time defending the president and upholding the Republican Party instead of defending the Bible and upholding Christianity. Instead of indoctrinating their congregations in the Christian faith, they propagandize them in government falsehood. Instead of exalting the name of Jesus Christ, they exalt the name of George Bush.

Abomination Kansas Court System

News Wire:
Reprobate Judges Reject Deterrent That
Helps State Protect Children From 'Gays'

The Kansas Supreme Court on Friday unanimously struck down a state law that punishes sodomites more severely if they attack children, saying "moral disapproval" of such conduct is not enough to justify the different treatment. Justice Marla Luckert wrote for the court, "Moral disapproval of a group cannot be a legitimate state interest." Sex offenders and predators praised the ruling. The case involved an 18-year-old sodomite, Matthew R. Limon, who was found guilty of sodomizing a 14-year-old boy and was sentenced to only 17 years in prison. Limon's lawyer, James Esseks of the American Civil Liberties Union's Lesbian and Gay Rights Project, said: "We are very happy that Matthew will soon be getting out of prison. We are sorry there is no way to make up for the extra four years he spent in prison simply because he is gay."

Slouching Towards Miers

by Robert H. Bork,
Bush shows himself to be indifferent,
if not hostile, to conservative values.

With a single stroke--the nomination of Harriet Miers--the president has damaged the prospects for reform of a left-leaning and imperialistic Supreme Court, taken the heart out of a rising generation of constitutional scholars, and widened the fissures within the conservative movement. That's not a bad day's work--for liberals.

The Fat Cat Tax

Commentary by Dan Holman,
(A children’s bedtime story)
My wife and I had discovered a good fishing spot along the Des Moines River ½ mile before it empties into the Mississippi. A lean, dirty black and white kitty was watching us unload our equipment. It tried to get into my bait box to steal whatever it could, but I shooed it away. It was persistent; I finally chased it away with a handful of pebbles. The cat found my wife Donna a softer gentler touch and hung around her the entire time we fished.

Abuse of Born Alive Babies

Pro-Life News
Abortion-hospital contracted funeral
director to 'dispose' of born alive babies

A funeral director was charged Wednesday with abusing the corpses of 19 born alive babies whose remains were found in his garage. Robert B. Winston Jr., had a contract with Magee-Womens Hospital to dispose of the babies. Winston was paid $45 each to dispose of the remains of born alive babies and aborted babies older than 16 gestational weeks, and $1 per pound to handle the others. Authorities said 352 fetuses were found.

THE "BORN-ALIVE INFANTS PROTECTION ACT"
Overview:
The Born-Alive Infants Protection Act states that any baby that has been born alive is to be legally considered a person. As such, she or he would automatically be granted full protection under the U.S. Constitution. Other existing laws require that newborns must receive medical attention as needed. Killing a born-alive infant would be considered murder.

The principles upon which America was founded provide far more liberty and security than any individualistic egalitarian dream imagined by Lincoln or his followers. Bush Betrays The Base

Miers Conformation Process
George W. Bush has betrayed the base, blatantly and intentionally, with his selection of Harriet Miers for the United States Supreme Court. The tens of millions of social conservatives who voted, recruited, and worked for him in the 2004 campaign did so not out of any interest in a 21st-century King George, right or wrong.

After nearly five years in office, the record is clear: President George W. Bush ranks among the biggest spending presidents in American history! With such a record, no person can honestly categorize G.W. Bush as a fiscal conservative. By comparison, Dubya's spending habits make Bill Clinton look like a conservative!

Back to the Bible!

Commentary by David Alan Black,
The key – the secret, if you will – to consistent Christian living is feeding upon and being saturated with the Word of God. “Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly,” says Paul (Col. 3:16). That “Word” has come to us in various forms. In the Gospels we have the spoken words of our Lord, carefully recorded for us by His followers. In other portions of the Bible we have what He caused to be written, under His guidance. It matters not. It is all His Word, and it is all to “dwell in us.”

Ron Paul slams Bush

News Wire
Congressman Ron Paul has accused the Bush administration of attempting to set in motion a militarized police state in America by enacting gun confiscation martial law provisions in the event of an avian flu pandemic. "To me it's so strange that the President can make these proposals and it's even plausible. When he talks about martial law dealing with some epidemic that might come later on and having forced quarantines, doing away with Posse Comitatus in order to deal with natural disasters, and hardly anybody says anything. People must be scared to death," Paul said.

Catholics attack the Word of God

News Wire
The hierarchy of the Roman Catholic Church has published a teaching document instructing Catholics that some parts of the Bible are not actually true. The Catholic bishops of England, Wales and Scotland are warning their five million worshippers, as well as any other Catholic that reads the Bible, that they should not expect “total accuracy” from the Word of God. They say the Church must offer the gospel in ways “appropriate to changing times, intelligible and attractive to our contemporaries”. The Bible is true in passages relating to human salvation, they say, but continue: “We should not expect total accuracy from the Bible in other, secular matters.”

What If Dobson Is Lying?

Miers Conformation Process
So Karl Rove whispered something sweet in James Dobson's ear and made him a believer in Harriet Miers? To the dismay of almost all of Dobson's allies, a corporate lawyer with no record of conservative views who is endorsed by Dallas gay-rights leaders and defended by Barbara Mikulski has scored a date with the Senate Judiciary Committee. Forgive me if I sound credulous, but I have a hard time believing that nice lady who timidly asked Pat Leahy about Vermont's fall foliage is harboring a dark, theocratic agenda. Two major Internet backbone companies are feuding, cutting off significant swaths of the Internet for some of each other's customers. On Wednesday, network company Level 3 Communications cut off its direct "peering" connections to another big network company called Cogent Communications. It's impossible to say precisely how many people are affected. According to Cogent, between 5 percent and 10 percent of its customers were affected. Level 3 did not provide an estimate. Because some of those customers could be ISPs with thousands or hundreds of thousands of their own customers, the number of people affected could range into the millions.

Brothers Beware of Wolves in Sheep's Clothing
Jesus said, "Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them." We ask what kind of 'fruits' do we see from Ms Harriet Miers? First reports indicated that she is Bush's long time private attorney, a single woman that has "given her life" to work for a pro-sodomite, abortion funding, baby murdering Republican administration. It is foolish to think that the President's 'private attorney' does not know about and condone sodomites in the White House and the pro-abortion attitudes of the Bush family. These are not the qualities of a "woman of great character, and a lover of Christ," touted by Jerry Falwell! Quite the contrary. For Ms Miers to associate with such filthy abomination, at the very least tells us she is a woman who has made corrupt and evil judgments all through her 'professional career,' and there is nothing to suggest that once she is seated on the Supreme Court she will change her wicked ways. --Jim Rudd

by Rep. Ron Paul, MD
Last month at its “World Summit” in New York, the United Nations took another big step toward destroying national sovereignty - a step that could threaten the United States in the future. The UN passed a resolution at this summit that, among other things, establishes a “Peacebuilding Commission,” creates a worldwide UN “democracy fund,” and most troublingly codifies the dangerous “Responsibility to Protect” report as part of UN policy. The three are certainly interrelated.

First they came for the Muslims...

Commentary by Al Cronkrite,
Careful! The Baby May Go With The Bathwater
I have written previously about the danger involved in demonizing Islam. If the world's elites succeed in squelching Islam, Christianity will fall as well as Judaism and any other religions that support doctrinal exclusivity.

'Stand Your Ground'

Commentary by Chuck Baldwin,
In Praise of Florida's New Deadly Force Law
In my home state of Florida, a new law just took effect which strengthens the right of citizens to use deadly force in protecting themselves. The new law has been nicknamed the "stand your ground" statute, because it changes the state requirement that a person try to avoid or escape an assailant before using deadly force.

Bush Picks Feminist as a Justice

News Wire
President Bush on Monday nominated White House counsel Harriet Miers to replace retiring Justice Sandra Day O'Connor on the Supreme Court, reaching into his loyal inner circle for a pick that won't do anything to reshape the nation's judiciary for years to come unless the People learn the impeachment process. Before her nomination, White House press secretary Scott McClellan told the Associated Press news agency that Democrat and Republican senators had recommended Ms Miers as a possible nominee. Friends and colleagues describe the single woman as assertive and ambitious, whilst being discreet and selfless.

Miers Supports Democrats

News Wire
Supreme Court nominee Harriet Miers gave $1,000 to Democrat Al Gore's unsuccessful presidential bid in 1988 — and 12 years later contributed to the effort to end Gore's chance of winning the White House. Miers also gave $1,000 to another prominent Democrat — Lloyd Bentsen, the longtime Texas senator who in 1988 ran for re-election and also was Dukakis' vice presidential choice on the Democratic ticket that year.

Conservatives Opposes Bush Pick

News Wire
"The President's nomination of Miers is a betrayal of the conservative, pro-family voters whose support put Bush in the White House in both the 2000 and 2004 elections and who were promised Supreme Court appointments in the mold of Thomas and Scalia. Instead we were given 'stealth nominees,' who have never ruled on controversial issues, more in the mold of the disastrous choice of David Souter by this President's father."

A Sick, Dying Elephant

Politics
Deflation is a natural occurrence when bloated egos and arrogance get out of control. The GOP’s bubble had to burst and indictment of the party’s chief crook, the bribe-taking, vote-selling House Majority Leader Tom DeLay provided the pin prick that sent all that Republican hot air cascading through the halls of power.

Sodomites in High Places

Abominations
A federal jury on Friday convicted a state judge of traveling to Russia to have sex with a teenage boy. Judge Stephen Thompson did not deny going to Russia in 2002, having a sexual encounter with a teenage boy and videotaping it. Thompson retired as a Superior Court Judge in Camden after he was charged with possession of "gay" pornography in 2003. During his 14 years as a judge, Thompson sometimes presided over cases of sexual abuse of children.

Seduced By Voices Around Us

Commentary by Paul Proctor,
Voices -- The Associated Press reported on Tuesday the 27th of September, that, in Ashley Smith’s newly released book about her hostage experience, entitled, “Unlikely Angel: The Untold Story of the Atlanta Hostage Hero,” she reveals for the first time that, during her captivity, Brian Nichols asked her if she had any marijuana he could smoke. Though Pastor Rick Warren’s Purpose Driven poster-child-to-be had no pot to give him, she did happen to have some crystal meth tucked away in her purse that she was willing to share.
