Every newspaper story should inform the reader about who, what, when, where, why, and how. Unfortunately, most of the news published and aired throughout the United States is short one or more of these essentials. Take the case of New York governor Eliot Spitzer. A crusading governor of a major state has been disgraced and excoriated following the publication of reports of a ten year record of sexual dalliances with a variety of prostitutes. Most of the stories published in the media on the Spitzer affair missed the "why".
