AT&T Paid Lobbyist $200,000 in 2007
The Associated Press:
AT&T Inc. paid Lent Scrivner & Roth LLC $200,000 last year to lobby the federal government. AT&T paid the company $100,000 for lobbying in the second half of 2007, according to a disclosure form filed Feb. 13 by the Senate's office of public records. The firm lobbied Congress on numerous issues related to taxes and "Net neutrality," the principle that all Internet traffic be treated equally by carriers, a long-standing practice on the Internet. However, phone and cable companies have indicated they would like to charge Web sites extra for preferential treatment of their traffic.
