Hold Fast On Wiretap Law
Berkshire Eagle:
The scare tactics that got President Bush re-elected in 2004 failed to preserve his party's congressional majority in 2006, but with nothing else to offer, Mr. Bush has returned to that dry well to push for passage of legislation enabling the government to continue its eavesdropping on Americans. Congress shouldn't be bullied. The intelligence legislation undermines the rights Americans hold dear, and our intelligence agencies don't need this legislation to perform their duties against terrorism.
