James C. Kopp told U.S. Magistrate Judge Hugh B. Scott that he wants a "speedy trial" and opposes government motions "to dismiss all the charges." Scott then granted Kopp's previous request by appointing Assistant Public Defender John F. Humann to be Kopp's new attorney. Humann, who is senior litigation counsel in the local federal public defender's office, was not in court Tuesday. The issue of whether or not Humann is pro-life has yet to be reported.
