Injured After RU-486?
October 2, 2000

The Covenant News (CovenantNews.com), a Christian Internet News Service, has launched a public service ad campaign to reach women who have experienced pain and suffering because they took the abortion pill RU-486. Utilizing the talents of the nation's three top post-abortion counseling and referral organizations this public service ad campaign will help women find medical attention, emotional counseling, and Medical Malpractice Attorneys.

As described by the New York Times, studies demonstrate that the RU-486 abortion pill method causes "bleeding and cramping that usually lasts 9 to 16 days but can continue for 30 days or more. About half the women also reported nausea, and a quarter to a third said they experienced headaches, vomiting or diarrhea." In 5 percent of the women who take RU-486, the abortion is "incomplete," requiring the woman to still undergo a surgical abortion. One percent bleed severely enough to require a blood transfusion in addition to a surgical abortion.

Aiming for doctors who prescribe RU-486 to women, Jim Rudd, editor of The Covenant News, explains, "We have assembled in one advertisement the top three post-abortion organizations in the country. They have all worked with and helped abortion injured women find Medical Malpractice Attorneys. Through their effort we will see huge lawsuits brought against these pill-pushing abortion doctors. Also, there should be enough information compiled to bring multi-million dollar class action lawsuits against the FDA and the pharmaceuticals that manufacture and market both mifepristone and misoprostol."

Upon calling a referral number listed on the web page, a counselor can cover the important aspects leading up to the injury. Depending on the severity of the injury a referral to a doctor can be made.

If the case is determined to be meritorious after serious injury, causation, or procedural complications are established, the caller can be referred to a Medical Malpractice Attorney.

Rudd concluded, "It has been rumored that RU-486 will change the face of abortion in America because doctors who prescribe the poison can do so in secret anonymity. Well that's simply not true. As the Prolife community reaches out to find these injured women, they will eventually find the doctors. It's just like Jesus said, 'Ye shall know them by their fruits.'"

Other Pro-Life web sites are more than welcome to link to the RU-486 Referral Service page.
