Smiling To The End

Iafrica.com -- Unrepentant and smiling, anti-abortion extremist Paul Hill died by lethal injection on Wednesday, becoming the first person executed in the United States for murdering an abortion doctor. Minutes before the death sentence was carried out at the Florida State Prison, Hill urged abortion opponents to "defy the courts". "May God help you to protect the unborn as you would want them to be protected," the former Christian pastor said in his final statement. He smiled to the end as he thanked "the Lord Jesus Christ" for saving him from his sins and enabling him to persevere, a prison spokesperson said.

Quotes From The Execution of Paul Hill

"If you believe abortion is a lethal force, you should oppose the force and do what you have to do to stop it. May God help you to protect the unborn as you would want to be protected." - the last words of Paul Hill, from his gurney in the execution chamber.

Not Your Typical Group Of Demonstrators

STARKE -- The death penalty supporters were here. The death penalty opponents were here. The anti-abortion activists were here. The only ones who didn't show up were the pro-choice contingent. They probably figured there were enough volatile combinations to go around for one execution. The scene surrounding Paul Hill's execution featured the appropriate apocalyptic backdrop, complete with low-rolling storm clouds, dramatic lightning bolts and booming thunderclaps.

If Paul Hill Is Right, Who Else Needs To Die?

What disturbed me most about Paul Hill wasn't his smirking, callous demeanor about killing two people. It's that his actions did have a degree of logic. Christians who oppose abortion do so with the belief that once the sperm penetrates the egg, the resulting mass of cells has full-fledged human status. So in his mind, Hill was acting in defense of children who were being murdered by a doctor. That's why he shrugged off any feeling of guilt. Would you feel guilty about killing Osama bin Laden if it stopped him from killing countless innocents? But where does this logic end?

Hill’s Actions Spur Christian Debate

Supporters of Paul Hill have claimed the convicted killer was doing God's work, yet few mainstream or evangelical Christians support Hill's actions. A Web site created by a group called the Army of God contains messages of support from fervent believers: "By your fulfilling scripture, you indeed will be remembered," writes Judy, in one message. However, even among anti-abortion activists, that sentiment is not widely shared.

It Makes 'Us' Look Like Crazies

Newburgh – Virginia Sutton is "saddened" at the death of Paul Hill, saddened because it stains mainstream anti-abortionists with the extremist label, because it pushes the victory "she has sought" for nearly 31 years further away.

Torn Between Their Union And Their God

Recently, the United Auto Workers announced during contract talks with GM that they wanted to have the costs of elective abortions covered in the health care plans of their members. Many UAW members who are religious will find their consciences torn between their union and their God.

Editor's note: So what about Christians who work for the federal government? Since the federal government promotes and maintains the murder of children by abortion, why aren't Christian federal employees torn between their job and their God? Why isn't the Church forcing Christian federal employees to decide one why or the other? It is sin to work for baby murderers! So its your job or your God!

Court Upholds State Ban On Medicaid-Funded Abortions

MIAMI -- Florida can ban Medicaid payments for medically necessary abortions sought by poor women even though it pays for poor men's Viagra and vasectomies, an appeals court ruled Wednesday. Abortion rights advocates argued in June that state rules discriminate against women, but the 3rd District Court of Appeal decided the state has legitimate and rational interests in protecting life and containing health care costs. An appeal is being considered. The Miami court found no special protection for women seeking abortions under a 1988 equal-rights amendment to the state Constitution.

Bush Extends Assistance For 'Voluntary Population Planning'
Exempts $15 Billion abortion/HIV funding from regulation

Memorandum for the Secretary of State: "As set forth in the March 28, 2001, memorandum, this policy applies to certain assistance provided to foreign nongovernmental organizations. Such organizations do not include multilateral organizations that are associations of governments. This policy shall not apply to foreign assistance furnished pursuant to the United States Leadership Against HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria Act of 2003 (Public Law 108-25)."

"This White House memo is another example of how president Bush is emphatically pro-abortion," said Jim Rudd, editor of The Covenant News. "All pro-life Americans should be angry about the lies and deceit being perpetrated by para-church political groups telling Christians that this baby murderer in the White House is 'pro-life' in order to get their votes." Rudd said, "God hates hands that shed innocent blood. Therefore it is sin for people to cast their votes for a willful, deliberate murderer like G.W. Bush."
