Gov't Clinic Project Draws 'Abortion' Controversy
FREEPORT, Ill. -- A proposal to obtain a federal designation for the FHN Community Healthcare Center in Freeport drew criticism from several Stephenson County Board members Wednesday, who worried that such a clinic could operate outside the county’s control, and provide abortions to the public. County Health Administrator Craig Beintema was quick to point out that these fears were unfounded, and that having a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) could only benefit the area.
