2 Alaska Health Official Departures May Be Over Abortion
The Associated PressJUNEAU, Alaska -- A second state health official has left her job in Alaska, and her departure may be connected to Gov. Sarah Palin's anti-abortion views. Public Health Division Director Bev Wooley's last day was Wednesday. Alaska's Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Jay Butler, left the Department of Health and Social Services June 22. The Juneau Empire reported Wooley's departure may be linked to Palin's anti-abortion views. Wooley declined to comment to the Empire but told division staff in an e-mail her departure was "per Governor Palin's request."
