WICHITA, Kan. -- The ex-mistress of former Attorney General Paul Morrison testified Wednesday that she had seen medical records of an abortion provider's patients and decided that they showed that illegal late-term abortions had been performed. Linda Carter returned to the stand Wednesday in the case against Wichita abortion provider Dr. George Tiller, who faces 19 misdemeanor counts alleging he failed to obtain a second opinion for some late-term abortions from an independent physician, as required by Kansas law. Carter testified that Kline never asked her to pressure Morrison, but she acknowledged that she had seen the records from Tiller's clinic and asked Morrison to do the "right thing." "I saw the truth with my own two eyes," Carter said. Sedgwick County Judge Clark Owens said he wouldn't issue a ruling until mid-February. Tiller's trial is scheduled for March 16.
