CPC Director Gets Five Years Probation For Theft

DAVENPORT, IA -- The former executive director of the Women’s Choice Center in Bettendorf will spend the next five years on probation for stealing tens of thousands of dollars from the nonprofit organization. Stacey McIntosh, 30, pleaded guilty to first-degree theft in Scott County District Court. She also will be required to pay restitution to be determined at a later hearing, a total that will be somewhere between $30,000 and $72,000. She also received a deferred judgment, which means the charge will be removed from her record if she successfully completes probation, and will have to pay a $1,000 fine. McIntosh used the money to pay bills, she said Thursday. The center, operated by the Life & Family Educational Trust, is an anti-abortion clinic across the street from a Planned Parenthood Clinic. McIntosh was fired in December, after leading the organization for 1½ years.
