FDA Warns Bayer Over TV Ads For YAZ Birth-Control Drug

WASHINGTON -- The Food and Drug Administration warned Bayer AG about two of its television advertisements for the company's birth-control drug, saying ads for the drug YAZ overstate its effectiveness. The ads are misleading because they also minimize risks associated with YAZ and suggest it is effective for a broad range of patients, according to a letter posted on the FDA's Web site Tuesday.
