High Court To Hear Campaign Finance Case

PIERRE -- Secretary of State Chris Nelson will ask South Dakota's Supreme Court on Monday to reverse a lower court decision and require that the identity of a $750,000 donor to the 2006 abortion fight be made public. Lawyers for Attorney General Larry Long will represent Nelson in the case, the first scheduled in three days of oral arguments on a Supreme Court road trip to South Dakota State University. Nelson is challenging the dismissal of a case against Promising Future, a corporation formed by Rep. Roger Hunt, R-Brandon, and an as-yet unidentified third party.
