Dumpster-Mom Charged With Attempted Murder

NEWPORT BEACH -- A 38-year-old Laguna Niguel woman was charged with attempted murder Tuesday for allegedly placing her newborn daughter in a trash bin, where the crying infant was found by her 11-year-old sister. Shawn Kelli Sepulveda was also charged with a felony count of child abuse. Sepulveda, a fast food restaurant manager, was arrested Saturday morning at the Hidden Hills apartment complex in Laguna Niguel. Defense attorney Jacob Brower said his client, who also has a 14-year-old child, is very distraught and might be suffering from a mental breakdown.
