Trial Delay In Baby Cut Out-of-The Womb Murder Case

Trial delayed for woman accused of killing pregnant Pasco woman. The murder trial for a Kennewick woman accused of killing a pregnant woman to steal her nearly full-term baby was delayed Thursday for nearly seven months. Phiengchai Sisouvanh Synhavong was in Benton County Superior Court to waive her right to have her aggravated first-degree murder trial within 60 days of her arraignment. The new trial date is March 30. Araceli Camacho Gomez, 27, of Pasco was found dead at Columbia Park in Kennewick early June 28. She had multiple stab wounds to her chest and her unborn son had been cut from her womb. Sisouvanh Synhavong is accused of trying to pass the newborn baby off as her own. The baby remains in serious condition at Deaconess Medical Center in Spokane, a hospital spokeswoman said Thursday.

KENNEWICK, WA -- The defendant, 23-year-old Phiengchai Sisouvanh Synhavong (PEE'en-cha SIS'-oo-von SIN'-ha-vong), also agreed Thursday in Benton County Superior Court to give the prosecutor more time to decide whether to seek the death penalty. Prosecutor Andy Miller now has until Feb. 10 to make that decision. Defense lawyer Dan Arnold says the defense requested the extra time to compile information about the Kennewick woman for the prosecutor to consider. If Miller decides against seeking the death penalty, the woman would face life in prison without parole if convicted. A 27-year-old Pasco woman, Araceli Camacho Gomez, was found dead June 28 in a Kennewick park from multiple stab wounds to her chest. Her male baby had been cut from her womb.
