Fake Abortion Doctor in Court

Bertha Bugarin was in court Wednesday. Although her arraignment was postponed until next Thursday the 10th, Bugarin will likely face 10 felonies for practicing medicine and prescribing drugs without a medical license from an Abortion clinic in Chula Vista. "These are not the so called safe abortion clinics that people like to think of," says Cheryl Sullenger. In 2000, Sullenger was with the Pro-Life group Operation Rescue. She was begging for police department and medical board to shut down the clinic in Chula Vista. "This license is in non-affect and is operating illegally," she said at a rally in 2000 in front of the clinic.

Bertha Bugarin, owner/operator of a chain of abortion clinics in Southern California called “Clinica Medica para la Mujer de Hoy,” has been arrested twice within the last 10 months for practicing medicine without a license -- once in Los Angeles and once in San Diego. Bugarin is accused of repeatedly performing surgical abortions without a medical license. Her typical business target has been low-income, Spanish-speaking mothers, and her offices were set up in Spanish-speaking neighborhoods in Panorama City, Huntington Park, Baldwin Park, Los Angeles, Santa Ana and Chula Vista.
