Efforts to Stop Nurses from Killing Babies Fall Short

Efforts to regulate or restrict medical providers' ability to provide abortions were quashed this year at the State Capitol. Gov. Janet Napolitano vetoed two bills outlawing late-term partial-birth abortions that piggybacked on a federal ban of the procedure. A bill to bar nurses from performing abortions also failed in the State Senate. The Arizona State Board of Nursing ruled earlier this year that some nurses are allowed to perform abortions.
