Trial Set In Killing of Pregnant Woman

A woman accused of driving drunk and killing a 20- year-old woman and her unborn child is set to stand trial Oct. 10. Kimberly Gore Brown is charged with two counts of intoxication manslaughter in connection with the March 2007 death of Kassie Nichole Lee and her fetus. Brown can be prosecuted for the death of Lee's unborn child under a 2003 Texas law that extends protections of the entire criminal code to "an unborn child at every stage of gestation from fertilization until birth."
