Dead Newborn Found In Rehab Center's Dryer

A dead newborn, wrapped in bloody towels and clothes, was found Friday night in a dryer in a Southwest Side rehabilitation facility laundry room, police said. San Antonio Police Sgt. Rudy Cran said the baby was discovered about 7 p.m. when clients at Victory Home, in the 1000 block of Southwest 38th Street, were doing their laundry. Cran said the women pulled the bundle out of a dryer, noticed blood, and then saw the baby girl. Police believe the baby was placed in the dryer but that the dryer wasn't turned on. EMS technicians believe the baby was born alive, Cran said.
