Arrest Made In 2006 Slaying of Pregnant Cashier
SANTA CRUZ -- Sheriff's deputies announced late Tuesday they have made an arrest in the September 2006 slaying of Joanna "Asha" Veil, a cashier at the Ben Lomond Market. Veil was seven months pregnant at the time. She and her unborn child, Anina, were killed in the homicide. The Sheriff's Office refused to release the name of the suspect late Tuesday, saying it would be announced at a press conference at 2 p.m. today. The suspect is set to be arraigned Thursday in Santa Cruz Superior Court on homicide charges.
