Kentucky Pre-Abortion-Ultrasound Bill Stuck in House
FRANKFORT -- Sen. Jack Westwood says an abortion-related bill he has sponsored has the Kentucky House tied in knots. House Democrats don’t want to call the bill – Senate Bill 40 – because they know it would pass, Westwood said Wednesday. "It's driving the way the House operates now," said Westwood, a Crescent Springs Republican in his third term. Under the bill doctors performing abortions would be required to first perform an ultrasound and allow the woman to see the images. It has passed the Senate but is lodged in a House committee chaired by Rep. Kathy Stein, D-Lexington, an abortion rights advocate.
