Mother, 20, Arrested for Killing Newborn

The mother of a newborn boy, whose body was found by El Paso police at an East Side home in December, was indicted Wednesday on a charge of capital murder, court records show. Briana Sterner, 20, is charged in connection with her son's death on Dec. 15. Police reported they found the infant "without signs of life" at a home in the 2900 block of Beachcomber. The infant was found "floating in a bathtub half-filled with water," El Paso County Medical Examiner Dr. Paul Shrode said in January.
