Hope Clinic, Protesters Reach Settlement

The Hope Clinic for Women in Granite City has agreed to settle a lawsuit filed by pro-life protesters who said workers assaulted them outside the facility. The abortion clinic, at 1602 21st Street, will pay an undisclosed sum to Daniel and Angela Michael, the founders of the Highland anti-abortion group and ministry Small Victories. The Michaels sued the facility's operators after a clinic escort in November 2000 allegedly pushed their 9-year-old daughter to the ground while she was handing out literature to patients. The suit also addressed a 2004 incident in which Hope Clinic employee Dr. Yogendra Shah was accused of running over Daniel Michael with a car. Full story...
