Bid to End Ban on Foreign Aid for Abortion Advice
The Sunday TimesCANBERRA, Australia -- A CROSS-party group of 50 politicians today launched a campaign to force the Government to drop a ban on foreign aid being spent on abortion advice for women. The ban was implemented more than 10 years ago by the Government to please an independent politician who then held the balance of power in the senate. "It's repugnant, it's an insult to women,'' said the leader of the pressure group, Mal Washer, a medical doctor and backbencher in the Liberal Party. Full story...
