Court Acquits Doctor In Botched Abortion Case
KUANTAN, Malaysia -- A gynaecologist – accused of causing the death of a pregnant woman during a suspected abortion six years ago – walked out of court a free man yesterday. The Sessions Court acquitted Dr C. Sethugavalar, 63, without his defence being called at the end of the prosecution case. Judge Sarimah Hashim said the prosecution had failed to prove a prima facie case against the doctor. She then ordered the accused to be released. Dr Sethugavalar was charged with using medical instruments to puncture the womb of Erley Suzana Che Yop with the intention of inducing a miscarriage. The 25-year-old woman was believed to have been between 16 and 20 weeks pregnant. She died of massive blood loss from her uterus. Full story...Latest Pro-Life News and Headlines:
