Christian Coalition of Alabama officials released results last week of a pledge drive in support of legislation written to protect the lives of unborn children. Coalition President John Giles said the legislation is the coalition’s No. 1 priority and has garnered enough bi-partisan support to pass next year. The Republican Caucus also unanimously voted to make the bill a top priority. Giles said the bill is “singularly focused” and not intended to combat abortion. “Although abortion does indeed take the life of the unborn, (the Unborn Victims of Violence Act) is about a calculated, cold-blooded homicide,” Giles said in a September press release.
