Moms 'Offered Cash For Babies'

MOTHERS have been offered $1500 to give up their children in an apparent baby-buying racket targeting a Queensland public hospital. Pamphlets advertising for mothers interested in surrendering their children for money were posted in the toilets of the Ipswich Hospital's maternity ward. The pamphlets were aimed at Polynesian women, expecting to give birth to a "boy or boys". They offered cash once the baby was delivered and had been taken home from hospital. The hospital's acting district management Jill Koeneman said staff forwarded the matter to police. Posted by Editor at September 26, 2005 09:07 AM
