The women who are making the hard decision to walk into an abortion clinic are increasingly over 40, Asian migrants or full-time workers such as nurses and teachers. According to Geoffrey Brodie, a doctor who has run abortion clinics in Sydney for the past 22 years, the biggest change over the past decade has been the noticeable increase of "grey hair" in his recovery rooms. He said that between 1993 and 2003, he had seen a 250 per cent increase in women over 40 getting abortions.
