CHICAGO -- Police said a passerby found an infant placed inside a plastic grocery bag Monday night on the west side of Chicago. Officials said Debbie Smith discovered the baby after she stopped to investigate crying sounds coming from some bushes. The girl was wrapped in a towel inside the bag. "I just couldn't believe what I was seeing -- a real baby in this bag," Smith said. "You know, just a plastic bag that you go shopping with." The child still had her umbilical cord attached when she was taken to West Suburban Hospital.
