Bush Administration Agrees to Global Family Planning Program
WHNT TV-19 News - Huntsville, AL:UNITED NATIONS -- The Bush administration says it supports a United Nations' plan to ensure women's rights are upheld when it comes to reproduction, as long as the document doesn't promote abortion as an option. Earlier, the U-S refused to join 85 other governments in signing a statement of support for the so-called "Cairo plan." But, Thursday, an ambassador indicated strong support from Washington, once he received repeated assurances the plan would not promote abortion. The "Cairo plan" was drafted with the help of former President Clinton. It states that abortion should not be used as a method of family planning (An Exercise in Doublespeak), but that it shouldn't be treated as a crime, either.[?] (Sounds like National Right to Life Committee: National Right to Life says this is not a good time to pass an abortion ban, Also read: Bush's abortion funding, Dysfunctional Pro-Lifers, Bush's Moral Bankruptcy)
